I have been interested in fiber for the last 20 years. We have raised a variety of sheep, angora and cashgora goats, angora rabbits, and llamas.

I especially enjoy blending fiber. I work part time at my fiber business, as I also work outside the farm. Over the last few years I have downsized my farm to include my two favorite fiber animals . . . the angora bunnies and llamas.

This has allowed me to spend some time developing a variety of knitting and needle felting kits in order to share my addiction or love of fiber with others.

What is felt? Felting is an art, not a science, and has existed for thousands of years. It may have been the first fabric ever made, and was probably discovered by accident. It would be safe to say that humans did not share this planet long with animals before they learned that the animals' hair helped to protect them from the elements.

It was only natural that humans would learn to use that hair to insulate themselves. They discovered that animal hair that was slept on or wrapped around their hands or feet turned into felt over time. Over a period of time, body heat, perspiration, friction and pressure all play a part in turning wool into felted fabric.
